The Dead Cities, also called the “Romano-Byzantine villages of North Syria”, represent a network of over 700 villages along an itinerary of 260 kms. These treasures of Romano-Byzantine architecture are scattered across the coarse limestone formations of the Belus Massif between the Orontes and Afrin rivers to the west and the Aleppo-Hama highway to the east. Their incredible state of preservation and the particular setting in which they developed make them a must-see aspect of your trip to Syria.
