The Dead Cities hosts numerous different religious buildings: there are some Roman temples, dating from the 2nd century, that are very well preserved, and sometimes have been transformed into churches. Proper Churches and monasteries are numerous and display different styles and decorations. Byzantine churches typically have the structure of a Roman basilica. You can also admire mosques, as in Al Bara, or buildings, as in Sergilla, hosting a church transformed later on into a mosque.
