Queen Zenobia has certainly, more than anyone else, written the history of Palmyra. When she came to power, Palmyra was part of the Roman Empire. She succeeded in driving the Romans out of Syria, towards Anatolia and Egypt and founded the independent Kingdom of Palmyra. Her strong personality, culture and courage make her one of the most mythical feminine figures of history. Though her glorious deeds and her special destiny have been reported in antic and contemporary literature, little is known about her death.
