The site of Saint Simeon
The excavations in the site of Saint Simeon were mainly done by French and German Archaeological missions. Archaeologist Tchalenko was responsible for the restoration and maintenance of the limestone massif monuments under the French Mandate. His role consisted in clearing up the presentation yard, according to the rules of French historical monuments. These enhancement works have mainly consisted in earthwork. The posterior phases have greatly suffered from the operation, and the topography of the site was completely transformed.
